Izway wines is only a stone’s throw from the Barossa’s best places to eat, drink and explore. With COVID-19 restrictions easing this has allowed most of our favourite haunts to welcome back guests. We live locally, dine locally and drink locally so if you want to experience the Barossa like a local here are the place to go:
Dine
Appellation – Breathtaking views with food and wine to match. Now re-opened for dining on weekends. We are looking forward to a Saturday night date sans kids in this newly refurbished space.
Three75 Bar + Kitchen – for comfort food and cocktails by the Appellation team. This place makes the best burgers in the Barossa and with the introduction of a takeaway option we’ve been enjoying them at home recently. We’re still debating which is our favourite; Is it the King George Whiting burger or Wagu Beef burger? It is so hard to pick, so it usually comes down to what we want to drink with our burger on the night.
Fino – Progressive regional dining and a favourite lunch destination. Located at the historic Seppeltsfield winery precinct just around the corner from our place we’ll be heading in for lunch soon.
Fermentasian – Enjoy modern Vietnamese dishes with an outstanding wine selection to choose from. It’s been a while since we’ve enjoyed chef Tuoi’s fresh and flavoursome food and we can’t wait to get back there.
Drink
Fleur Social – to kick start your day there is only one place to go. Our favourite coffee shop using freshly roasted beans from our neighbours at Barossa Coffee Roasters. We’re looking forward to sitting with a coffee and paper with the morning sun coming through the windows.
Seppeltsfield Road Distillers – When we’re not drinking wine, we drink gin. A handy place to have over the hill from ours to pick up a bottle (our favourite is the Barossa House Gin). A place to reconnect with friends while enjoying a gin tasting flight.
Greenock Tavern – our local, and everything you want from a good country pub. The kids keep asking when they can have a “pub dinner” and now publican Chris has reopened his doors it is time to head in for a beverage and feed.
Seppeltsfield road – along the picturesque palm lined road where we reside there are plenty of neighbouring cellar doors to visit. It is hard to highlight them all but being a fan of Lachlan Colwill’s food at Hentley Farm, I’m keen to enjoy the light lunch offering with wine tasting flight over a coming weekend.
Do
Casa Carboni Italian Enoteca – Assistant winemaker Liam has booked a cooking class and will be honing his culinary skills under Chef Matteo’s tuition. We’re looking forward to the dinner invite to show us what he has learnt.
Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop – Maggie Beer’s farm shop is a Barossa institution which as a local we should frequent more often. It’s on the list for the school holidays to see the turtles & pheasants, eat some treats and pick up some pantry staples. If you are after more of a lunch offering The Eatery at the Farm will have you content with its modern casual food.
Barossa Bushwalks – in my view there is no better way to explore the Barossa than by foot. We love running over the undulating hills of Seppeltsfield and seeing the change of seasons. Bushwalking with friends and getting the kids out into nature is also a regular weekend activity and the perfect way to counter balance the imbibing.
Vasse Virgin – A relatively new addition to the Seppeltsfield precinct; Vasse Virgin makes beautiful skincare using natural ingredients, plant extracts and essential oils. You’ll find the oil diffusers and soap in our rest rooms at cellar door and I’ll be popping over to re-stock my skin care supplies which have just run out. They also hold workshops and experiences.
