Vintage 2017 Trio of September releases

We’re calling it here and now – the 2017 vintage was one of the Barossa’s best for Grenache and Aglianico.

While the winter and spring leading into the 2017 vintage were cold and wet, with double the amount of rainfall of 2016, consistently cool conditions throughout the ripening period were ideal for these late ripening varieties. As a result, the cool weather played a dab hand in delicately shaping our 2017 wines, which are defined by pure, vibrant aromatics and elegant structure.

The Wines
2017 Izway Maurice Grenache“Like a half time orange when you’re 10 goals up”
Hailing from the western ridge of the Barossa, where Grenache vines thrive in the clay soil, our Maurice Grenache is all dark cherry, Campari and orange rind with a savoury element of leather. Maurice turns $40 into a sophisticated moment of hard-earned enjoyment.

2017 Izway Three Brians Grenache“As pretty and loud as a jockey silks on Melbourne Cup Day”
Indulgence in a glass – how our gnarled old Grenache vines from Seppeltsfield create the complexity and flavour of the Three Brian’s continues to astound even us. Respect. Chocolate coated orange rind, jaffas, Turkish delight – this a sexy, silky and ethereal drop.

2017 Izway Angelo Aglianico – “Like watching the cricket at Pune Stadium, India. Curry spice wafts around the stadium, the doctored wicket initially juicy but has a dry finish, and no-one is sure what’s happening”
From ancient Greece to southern Italy to the Barossa, Aglianico is a little-known variety with a very long history. Floral aromatics make their way around the initial notes of gruyere and blue cheese, followed by lavender, liquorice and cardamom – this is a wine made to enjoy alongside good food.

Another classic Barossa harvest for both the cellar and dining table. Don’t let the good ones get away.
